New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

If you are thinking about visiting us on a Sunday, then there's lots of useful information below and you may be interested in our About Us pages. If you want to know what Christianity is all about, then our What is Christianity? page is the place to start.

Key information about the church:

Where & when does the church meet?

We meet every Sunday at 10am and 6:30pm for our Sunday Services. You can see a map of our location on our Contact Us page. We're in the centre of Lowestoft, not far from the main shopping high street. On a Sunday there is plenty of parking on the roads near the church building. A rack for locking cycles is also available.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. Each service runs for about 75-90 minutes and is informal in style. We try to make things understandable as much as possible for those who are new to church. At the heart of each service is a reading and sermon from the Bible, and there is also a mixture of hymns and contemporary songs, prayers and news, and the sharing of the Lord’s Supper (taking bread and wine to refocus us on Jesus and his death).

Will I have to join in?  Will I be made to feel uncomfortable?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you. We aim for visitors to feel at ease just listening in to the songs, talk and prayers. We want you to feel right at home and enjoy the service.

What happens after the service?

After the morning service: Please do join us for a tea or coffee over the road in the church lounge, where you will also find the toilets. If you would like someone to pray with you, the prayer ministry team will be available after the service at the front of the church.

After the evening service: Please do join us for a hot chocolate in the main building – we love to hang around and chat!

Do you have groups for children?

In the morning service, we have a fantastic programme for children up to age 14:

Crèche (0-2s)
Climbers (3-6s)
Explorers (7-10s)
Pathfinders (11-14s)

The children and youth stay in for the first part and join in. Someone will announce when they need to go to their programme. These groups happen in our church halls. You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend.

For more information about all our children and youth activities, please visit the relevant age groups in our Children and Youth pages.

Is there a dress code?

No! Just wear whatever you normally wear – others will be wearing anything from shirt and jackets to jeans and a t-shirt.

What happens during Communion (the Lord’s Supper)?

Some of our services finish with the Lord’s Supper. Everyone is invited to join a queue to take bread and wine at the front of church. We invite all who trust in Jesus as their Saviour and are baptised in his name to share the bread and wine. If you would like prayer instead, please keep your hands down when the bread and wine are offered. If you just want to watch what is happening, you are also welcome to remain seated.

Will there be a collection for money?

In our morning services: Usually during the final song a collection bag will be passed round to support the work of the church. This is really for regulars, so if you are a visitor please feel free just to pass the bag on. Many regulars will also pass the bag on, because they give in other ways.

In our evening services: We do not have a collection, but if you would like to support the church, then please do place any donations into the Response Box on the Welcome Table.

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them.

Please feel free to Contact Us and we'd be happy to answer any questions.
