New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

If you are thinking about visiting us on a Sunday, then there's lots of useful information below and you may be interested in our About Us pages. If you want to know what Christianity is all about, then our What is Christianity? page is the place to start.

Key information about the church:

Where & when does the church meet?

Our main service is at 10am, but we also have an afternoon service at 4:30pm once a month and on other weeks an evening service at 6:30pm. You can see a map of our location on our Contact Us page. We're in the centre of Lowestoft, not far from the main shopping high street. On a Sunday there is plenty of parking on the roads near the church building. A rack for locking cycles is also available.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. Each service runs for about 75 minutes and is informal in style. We try to make things understandable as much as possible for those who are new to church. At the heart of each service is a reading and sermon from the Bible, and there is also a mixture of hymns and contemporary songs, prayers and news, and the sharing of the Lord’s Supper (taking bread and wine to refocus us on Jesus and his death).

Will I have to join in?  Will I be made to feel uncomfortable?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you. We aim for visitors to feel at ease just listening in to the songs, talk and prayers. We want you to feel right at home and enjoy the service.

What happens after the service?

We love to hang around and encourage each other after the service.  After our morning service we have refreshments available.  If you would like someone to pray with you, the prayer ministry team will be available after the service at the front of the church.

Do you have groups for children?

Alongside our morning service, we have a fantastic programme for children and youth:

  • Climbers (3-6s)
  • Explorers (7-10s)
  • Pathfinders (11-14s)

The children and youth stay in for the first part and join in. Someone will announce when they need to go to their programme. These groups happen in our church halls. You will need to go with your children and register them, the first time they attend.  There's also a play area at the back of church for babies and toddlers.

Is there a dress code?

No! Just wear whatever you normally wear – others will be wearing anything from shirt and jackets to jeans and a t-shirt.

What happens during Communion (the Lord’s Supper)?

Some of our services include the Lord’s Supper. Everyone is invited to join a queue to take bread and wine at the front of church. We invite all who are baptised in the name of Jesus to share the bread and wine. If you would like prayer instead, please keep your hands down when the bread and wine are offered. If you just want to watch what is happening, you are also welcome to remain seated.

Will there be a collection for money?

We do not normally have a collection bag, but if you would like to support the church, then please do place any donations into the Response Box on the Welcome Table or setup giving online here.  If you are just visiting us or trying out church, please be our guest.

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them.

Please feel free to Contact Us and we'd be happy to answer any questions.
